2015 was a great year for Huawei. This China-based smartphone OEM managed to increase their profits quite significantly, not to mention the company is currently the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and is constantly trading places with Xiaomi as the number one in China. Huawei has released a number of really compelling smartphones this year, and the newest one Google introduced yesterday. Huawei has partnered up with Google in order to manufacture the first ever Huawei-branded Nexus device. Google has unveiled the Huawei Nexus 6P phablet yesterday, which is also the Nexus flagship at the moment.
We’ve talked about the Nexus 6P at length, and are here to talk about an another Huawei-branded device which is expected to launch soon, the Huawei Honor Play 5X. The company’s ‘Play’ line of devices usually refers to entry-level smartphones, and that will still be the case when the Honor Play 5X sees the light of day. The company has introduced the Honor Play 4 back in September last year, and the more powerful Play 4X arrived in October. That being said, the Honor Play 5X will reportedly launch on October 10th, at least according to the newly leaked info.
The Honor Play 5X will still be an entry-level smartphone, and according to the source, it will sport a 5-incch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB). This smartphone will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 quad-core SoC running at 1.3GHz, and will offer 4G LTE connectivity. The 13-megapixel camera will reportedly going to be located on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel shooter will be available up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this smartphone, and the company’s EMUI (Emotion UI) Android-based skin will be available on top of Google’s operating system. That is pretty much it as far as specs go, and it is important to keep in mind that this is not the Honor 5X, but Honor Play 5X. The Honor 5X will be a more somewhat better-specced device and will be made out of metal. Anyhow, stay tuned.
