Apple announced their new iPhones today with some other devices like a large tablet, a TV set top box and some news regarding their smartwatch. The new iPhones feature basically the same design as last year’s version, but there’s a new color option. As in typical Apple fashion, they upgraded some of its internals, including the new 12-megapixel camera sensor, the new A9X processor and the screen now includes what the company called 3D Touch, so they optimized the software for the new pressure sensitive screen. Apple’s events rarely focus on the technical specifications, as the company usually mentions all of the features and enhancements that make their products “magical”, among other similar adjectives. The reason to do it that way is that they don’t have octa-core processors, a significant amount of RAM, displays with extraordinary resolution or even camera sensors with a high megapixel count. To be fair, they work pretty well with the given hardware, but Android manufacturers often highlight the features that the iPhones are missing.
Sony sent them a message even before the new phones were announced, challenging them to get into the game. Now, after they were announced, Sony was right to think that these wouldn’t compete with their newest offerings in terms of hardware, after all, that’s not what Apple competes for. Now, Sony has shared another message to heat things up between Apple fanboys and Android defenders. The message uses a background image similar to the one Apple used in the invites for the event and a tagline that reads “Hey Siri, what about the battery life?” making reference to Apple’s digital assistant and the fact that the company conveniently missed that piece of information. Finally, there’s the phrase Switch to Sony, suggesting that phones from that company offer a better battery life. The tweet includes the message: “A battery life worth talking about… Up to 2 days’ battery with #Xperia Z5 series SwitchToSony”
The newly announced Xperia Z5 lineup from Sony includes some interesting phones, one with the excessive resolution of 4K on its 5.5-inch display. Still, most of their recent smartphone offerings are rated for a 2-day battery life. Now, that’s not exactly true, as it heavily depends on the usage, but they certainly carry some high-capacity batteries, usually around 3,000 mAh. They are probably referring to the battery of the regular iPhone 6S and its 1,810 mAh capacity, as the one on the iPhone 6S Plus is significantly larger, but still not rated for that much time. Plus, Sony managed to fit a larger battery of 3,430 mAh in the Xperia Z5 Premium that has almost the same measurements as the iPhone 6S Plus and its 2,915 mAh battery.
