Sony has announced their new Xperia Z5 flagship devices during IFA recently, the Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium and Z5 Compact. Prior to announcing those three flagships, Sony has unveiled the Xperia M5 upper mid-range handset back in August. This smartphone is actually a quite solid mid-range offering by the company, if we can even call it mid-range considering its specs are quite solid and might even be considered high-end by some people. Either way, Sony India has teased the arrival of this smartphone to India a couple of days ago, and the phone is now official in that Asian country.
The Sony Xperia M5 Dual is now official in India for Rs. 37,990, and the device will be available in Black and Gold color options. This device is also called a ‘selfie phone’ because of its 13-megapixel front-facing camera (Sony’s Exmor RS sensor). The Sony Xperia M5, as its name says, offers two SIM card slots which you can take advantage off. The device features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage This handset is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core processor along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU for graphics. The 21.5-megapixel shooter (PDAF included) is available on the back of the Xperia M5, and the aforementioned 13-megapixel shooter can be found up front.
The Xperia M5 Dual offers IP65 and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance (over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes), which is yet another selling point for this smartphone. The non-removable 2,600mAh battery is available on the inside of this phone, while the device measures 145 x 72 x 7.6mm and weighs 142.5 grams. As far as the design goes, Xperia M5 Dual is a typical Sony-branded device. It sports that industrial sleek look, and it has that round button on the right which is quite recognizable at this point. The device also sports a volume rocker keys on the right, and below them you’ll notice the dedicated camera shutter button as well. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the Xperia M5 Dual, with Sony’s skin placed on top of Google’s OS.
