Xiaomi Mi 4C To Sport A Security-Centric Infrared Port

Xiaomi Mi 4i is a mid-range smartphone which Xiaomi launched earlier this year. This smartphone has originally launched in India, and it made its way to other parts of Asia weeks after that. That being said, Xiaomi has been rumored to be working on a higher-end Xiaomi Mi 4i which will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor. We’ve seen quite a few leaks surface in the last couple of weeks, and the most recent ones claim that the device will launch on September 22nd or 24th, and that the company might release two versions of it (2 and 3GB models).

Well, a new rumor surfaced on Weibo (Chinese social network). According to this rumor, the Mi 4C will not only sport the Type-C USB 3.0 port, but will also ship with an infrared port. Interesting enough, this infrared port will be used for security, not for connectivity, at least according to the source. It seems like the Mi 4C will differentiate from the Mi 4i a bit more than we though. Anyhow, the Mi 4C is said to cost around $200, and as mentioned above, it will probably arrive in both 2 and 3GB variants (pricing will vary, of course). The 2GB model is said to include 16GB of internal storage, and the 3GB variant will ship with 32GB of in-built storage.

The Xiaomi Mi 4C is said to boast a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2/3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor, and a 3,000mAh battery is expected to be included on the inside. The 13-megapixel shooter will be available on the back of the Mi 4C, and a 5-megapixel shooter will be located up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this smartphone, and you can also expect Xiaomi’s MIUI OS to be installed on Google’s operating system. There you have it. We’re still not sure when will Xiaomi launch the Mi 4C, but both September 22nd and 24th have been mentioned as the possible launch date. Either way, stay tuned for more details, we’re almost certain new leaks will pop up prior to the launch event.
