YouTube Canada's "YouTube Hits" Radio Show is on Rogers

Rogers has really been busy this year – earlier they rebranded themselves with an updated log and color scheme.  Rogers also teamed up with Spotify to bring Fido customers a free 24-month premium subscription.  Not long ago, Rogers bought out Mobilicity, redistributed some of their spectrum per the purchase agreement, and will eventually bring in Mobilicity’s customers onto their LTE network.  Just last month, Rogers started offering up Staff Picks each quarter with special deals and extended warrantees on the products.  Just last week they did away with their First Rewards Loyalty Program because of the small participation among its customers.  Rogers’ newest idea is teaming up with YouTube to launch YouTube Hits on Rogers Radio.

Julie Adam, SVP at Rogers Radio, said, “This partnership with YouTube was a natural marriage with our Rogers Radio youth brands as we continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of our audiences. YouTube has emerged not only as the delivery platform for some of the world’s biggest trendsetters, but also as a powerful incubator for new talent.”

YouTube Hits is the first of its kind in Canada and is a way for Canada’s top YouTubers to connect with their current audience and possibly pick up some new fans along the way.  It will be a blend of Canadian and international YouTube stars and emerging artists.  Some people view YouTube as a means to look up funny videos they have seen or to watch interviews of their favorite celebrities, but it is much more.

There are actual YouTube stars such as Canadian YouTube stars Daniela Andrade (700,000 subscribers) ConvosWith2YrOld (790,000 subscribers), MakeUpByEman (350,000 subscribers) and Corey Vidal (225,000 subscribers).  People subscribe to their videos and watch them all of the time, much like a favorite TV program.  It will be hosted by Rogers Radio personalities Blake Carter and Adam Wylde (Blake & Wylde, KiSS 92.5).  It will be a weekly one-hour show and will highlight the hottest music and trends.

YouTube Hits will appear on are the following stations – KiSS in Toronto, Kingston, ON, Ottawa, North Bay, ON, Sudbury, ON, Timmins, ON, Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Victoria – CHYM 96.7 in Kitchener, ON – 91.7 The Bounce in Edmonton – 107.7 The River in Lethbridge, AB – Star 98.3 in Chilliwack, B.C. – and Mountain FM in Squamish, B.C.
