Sony has reassured customers on more than one occasion now this year that they have no intentions of exiting the mobile business, meaning those who love Sony smartphones can continue to expect new devices going forward. This is great news for anyone who prefers the Sony devices to other brands as well as anyone who may have been interested in checking out what they have to offer in regards to the latest and greatest. That is, everyone except Verizon customers who were particularly interested in the Verizon model of the Xperia Z4, known as the Xperia Z4V.
Back when Sony initially announced the Xperia Z4, they had stated it would only be coming to Verizon as far as U.S. carriers go. Technically this is true, but U.S. residents on other carriers would still be able to get a hold of the phone in the form of the Xperia Z3+ which is the same exact phone. It is now in the second half of the year and more than a month after the planned launch date and Verizon still hasn’t begun selling the Xperia Z4V. Save for the fact that it’s been more than a few months since the announcement and Verizon still hasn’t launched the phone, Sony announced the Xperia Z5 just a few weeks ago at IFA in Berlin, making the Xperia Z4V somewhat obsolete.
Verizon also announced the phone would be made available to subscribers in the Summer, and that time has now come and gone. The device is still on its way to the carrier it would seem as Verizon’s website lists the Xperia Z4V as coming soon, but with the Summer launch date having passed, there’s no official word in the pipeline when Verizon might actually release it. Assuming they will still be launching the phone, some users are likely going to wonder why they don’t just work with Sony on bringing in the Xperia Z5 instead, given it’s now available in other regions. Whatever the case may be, if there are any Verizon Wireless customers out there who have been interested in finding out details on how the phone works, one YouTube user by the name of iNoahTech has gotten a hold of one and has a review video up on his channel that could be worth checking out.
