Meizu PRO 5 Shipments Delayed, Factory Flooding To Blame

Meizu has announced two flagship devices in the last couple of months, the Meizu MX5 and PRO 5. The PRO 5 is the most current one, and the most powerful device this company has ever manufactured. This phablet has the specs to compete with pretty much every smartphone released to date. We’ve talked about the PRO 5 at length, and are here to report on some not-so-great news for those of you who pre-ordered this device, read on.

The Meizu PRO 5 has been available for pre-order for quite some time now, and the device was expected to ship to those who pre-ordered it in mid-October, but it seems like there will be some delays. The shipments might be delayed up to 1 month due to flooding at Meizu’s factory in Guangdong. The device was available for pre-order in two variants, the 3GB of RAM + 32GB of internal storage, and the 4GB of RAM + 64GB of native storage. The cheaper model is priced at 2,800 Yuan ($439) in China, while the 4GB RAM model costs 3,100 Yuan ($490).

The Meizu PRO 5 sports a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED 2.5D curved display along with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, and a Mali T760 GPU for graphics. The 3 and 4GB variants of this phone are available, as I’ve mentioned in the previous paragraph. The 3,050mAh battery is also a part of this package, and the PRO 5 is made out of metal. The 21-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX230 sensor) is located on the back of the PRO 5, and a 5-megpaixel snapper (OmniVision’s OV5670 sensor) can be found up front. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device along with Meizu’s Flyme OS which is available on top of Google’s operating system. The Meizu PRO 5 offers 4G TLE connectivity, of course, and the phablet is available in a number of different color options.

The delays were certainly not expected, flooding is unfortunate, and it seems like Meizu consumers will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the company’s newest flagship. Either way, stay tuned for more info, if any official info surfaces, we’ll let you know.
