Motorola announced their third-generation Moto G at an event in July. We have since reviewed the device and absolutely loved it. It’s one heck of a phone for under $200. And now Republic Wireless has added the Moto G to their lineup, beginning October 27th. The carrier will be offering both models of the Moto G, that includes the 8GB storage/1GB of RAM and the 16GB storage/2GB RAM configurations. Other specs for the Moto G include a 5-inch 1080p LCD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 processor inside, along with a microSD card slot and a 2470mAh battery powering it all. And during our review process, we found that the battery life on the Moto G was more than stellar.
As far as plans go, Republic Wireless has a few options available. One is a $5 plan that includes unlimited WiFi calling, texting and data. This is great if you’re always in a WiFi area, like at work or at home. Then there is the Republic Refund Base Plan, which includes unlimited WiFi calling, texting and data along with unlimited cellular talk and text, this would cost you $10. At the $25 price point there is the Republic Refund Plan, which gives you unlimited WiFi calling, texting, data, cellular talk and text as well as 1GB of 4G data. Finally at $40, you get a bump up to 2GB of 4G data. Republic Wireless charges $15 for each additional gigabit of data.
Republic Wireless is a bit of an interesting carrier. They rely on WiFi more than anything, to make calls and texts. They use Sprint’s network to back up your calling and texting whenever you leave a WiFi area. And for this reason, you are unable to bring any phone to Republic, even a Sprint smartphone. Republic mostly relies on Motorola phones in their arsenal.
The Moto G 2015 will be available on October 27th, and will be $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. Unfortunately you will not be able to customize the Moto G through Moto Maker, since you’re buying directly from Republic Wireless. So you’ll have to stick with either white or black, unfortunately.
