Death Mission is a FPS (first-person shooter) game for Android that aims to deliver a balance between enjoyment and challenging gameplay. With high-quality 3D graphics, a simple yet sophisticated control system and AI that is challenging but fair, Death Mission is a classic arcade style shooter than many will find appealing. In Death Mission there are 3 missions with 27 different stages to work your way through, and this is not just a mindless shooting gallery. The story goes that a fictional nation, Aerobia, has been taken over by terrorists and that it’s up to you to clear them out after a failed Special Ops mission. This is an ad-free game that asks for in-app purchases for more weapons and better accessories.
This is a free game, so all you need to do is download Death Mission from the Play Store, and load her up.
Death Mission looks good even here at the menu, for a game that was put together by a small, small team these animations and 3D graphics are impressive. There are some options and of course a shop to purchase new hardware, but we’re just going to get started. There is some sort of a story here, which is nice to se in a game like this.
There are 3 different missions like these, and each one has different stages in it to make up 27 different stages overall.
When you head on into a stage, you’re presented with a sort of shooting gallery to work through, it’s a sort of arcade-style shooter really, but it’s a whole lot of fun. As you head up the levels you’ll get to fight multiple enemies on one level:
The controls are really simple, just drag on the display to move and hit the right button to fire, and the left button to aim down your sights.
This is a lot of fun when using a sniper rifle and again lets you see the amount of detail in the character design and such.
There is some good attention to detail in Death Mission, and there are a lot of different weapons to choose from, with some detailed weapon models to boot.
All the staple weapons are here in Death Mission, and it’s a good job they are as there are some seriously challenging missions up ahead like freeing hostages and such.
And yes, there are plenty of explosions here as well:
Death Mission is a lot of fun, and it’s a game that many will find a lot of fun. It’s got a sort of classic, arcade feel to it that helps set it apart from the rest out there, and it runs really well on the majority of Android hardware out there. The 3D graphics look good throughout the whole game, and shooting people in the back of the head is always good fun. Weapons fire feels good with some haptic feedback, aiming is easy enough and there’s at least some level of realism which makes this feel a little credible. Death Mission has a story to it as well, which also helps to set the game apart from the likes of Dead Trigger and company. My only real complaint was that the free version does feel quite limited, but then again a lot of work has gone into this and there are no ads, so there’s not too much complaining we can do here really.
Ratings
- Speed (4/5) – Death Mission ran smoothly on a few devices I tested it with and the frame rate is high and steady.
- Features (4.5/5) – To say that this is a free game from an independent and smooth studio is impressive, and while the free version needs some money to unlock new weapons, it’s got a lot on offer once you do so and it looks and plays great.
- Theme (4/5) – While not the absolute best graphics on Android, the 3D models and animation here is good to say that it’ll work on the majority of devices, rather than just high-end missions like other games out there.
- Overall (4.5/5) – For a game that’s free and developed by a small team, this is a great deal of fun. It has a story, a real sense of progression, great 3D graphics and it has it where it counts; great shooting.
Pros
- Quick and easy to pick up and play, with no need to mess around with tricky controls.
- Lots of different weapons and accessories to try out, including sniper rifles and assault rifles.
- Variety of missions offers players a real sense of progression from starting off small and ending up with big missions.
- Has a great arcade sort of feel to it.
Cons
- Free version only offers up one or two guns for free.
- Controller support would be great.
All-in-all, Death Mission is an excellent game for those looking for a first-person shooter that doesn’t involve zombies or some other cliche. It looks great, plays great and is totally free to download and play. Sure, there are in-app purchases to unlock more, but with no ads in this version there’s no complaint we can make really. Go ahead and give it a try.
