BLU is a company that many may not be familiar with in terms of smartphones, and that would be understandable given the competition they go up against, it can’t be easy as a smaller smartphone brand to compete for customers with the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, Motorola and more. Despite this though that hasn’t stopped the Miami, Florida-based mobile phone OEM from continuing to offer devices to the masses, and their niche is that they offer decent devices with more than capable specifications and hardware for a less expensive price tag than top tier flagships, similar to what companies such as Xiaomi, Meizu, and others have done in China. One of BLU’s latest devices, the Pure XL 2015 model is not quite out yet, but it is now available for pre-order via Amazon.
If you’re unfamiliar with the BLU Pure XL from this year, the hardware makes it more than worthy of attention and is quite an improvement of the model from last year, especially if consumers are looking to save quite a few bucks to get a good user experience from their smartphone. It comes in packing 6-inc QHD display using Samsung’s AMOLED panel technology, which puts it on par with more than a couple 2015 flagship devices. It also comes with 64GB of internal storage but it also capable of expanding that storage via a microSD card if you happen to need more space. When it comes to connections it supports 4G LTE bands 2, 4, 7, and 17, as well as 4G HSPA+ bands 850, 1700, 1900, and 2100, and GSM Quad Band on all GSM networks in the US. With the arrival of Android Pay, BLU has fitted the Pure XL with a fingerprint sensor and NFC support so you’ll be able to use the device to make payments and secure it instead of using a password, PIN, or pattern lock.
BLU has opted to use the MediaTek Helio X10 processor inside this device, which is a 64-bit octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0GHz, and along with the 3GB of RAM it’s more than capable of handling multi-tasking or gaming, or any other memory and performance heavy tasks. The Pure XL comes with a 3,500mAh battery so there’s plenty of capacity to keep it going throughout the day, but usage does vary person to person and if you’re a heavy user who worries they might deplete the battery before the end of the day, it supports Quick Charge so you’ll be able to get battery life back in no time. Camera wise it sports a 24MP main camera on the back with dual-LED flash that comes with phase detection auto-focus and an f/2.3 aperture. On the front it carries an 8MP wide-angle camera with auto-focus. It comes in two colors including White and Gold, and is running Android 5.1 Lollipop, and all that comes in at a very reasonable price of $350 which makes it all the more impressive that BLU was able to pack in so much for a low cost.
