Cyanogen OS 12.1 Rolling Out To YU Yureka & Yureka Plus

YU is a very young company owned by Micromax. Despite the fact it’s relatively new to the business, YU has already released four devices and each of those phones can hold its own. Those are all very affordable and yet capable devices. YU has not released a high-end smartphone thus far, but will do so in the near future. The company’s CEO has confirmed that their flagship will be called ‘Yutopia’, and that it will launch soon. Registrations are already opened on the company’s official website, and the launch is expected in the coming weeks.

As we’re waiting for the company to release their flagship, YU has started rolling Android 5.1-based Cyanogen OS 12.1 update to Yureka and Yureka Plus handsets. This was announced by the company’s CEO, Rahul Sharma, recently, he said the following: “We understand it took longer than usual but we wanted to put up something concrete and ensure it’s worth your wait. Apologies for a longer wait time. The update would reach users in phases over next two weeks and will bring superior performance and amazing thermal control to your Yureka and Yureka Plus.”

This update comes with a YOG4PAS3JM build number and actually brings a redesigned launcher to these two devices. The app drawer and folder can now be operated with one hand, while the LiveDisplay feature should adjust your display based on environmental conditions you’re in at the time. There are various other improvements throughout the system, like the improved Boxer app, tweaked AudioFX, and so on. The company’s CEO has also added that this update will roll out to YU Yuphoria next, though he did not say when can we expect that.

The YU Yureka and Yureka Plus are more or less identical devices, the only difference here is the display, the Yureka Plus sports a 1080p (1920 x 1080) panel, while Yureka ships with ‘only’ an HD (1280 x 720) display. Both phones come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,500mAh battery and are powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz. That’s pretty much it, those of you who own YU Yuphoria, get ready to receive this very same update, it will start rolling out to those handsets in the near future.
