While there was plenty to talk about from this past week in the Android and mobile technology industry, two of the bigger events were the official announcements of the mobile world’s biggest future offerings for processors. Samsung may be more well-known for consumer electronics and smartphones, but they also started manufacturing their own CPU’s for mobile devices and other electronics, and this past week they unveiled the Exynos 8890 octa-core processor, likely to be the CPU in the upcoming Galaxy S7. On the other side of the world just a couple of days prior to Samsung’s announcement, Qualcomm officially unveiled the Snapdragon 820, their next generation CPU for mobile devices in 2016.
In the world of Android, Android Auto is still a tad bit new as not many car manufacturers have it integrated into their vehicles yet compared to how many different brands are on the road, but one more car maker has added their line to the mix, as BMW announced they’ll have Android Auto in their cars in the future. Also new this week, Google made cellular support official for the Android Wear platform, and their YouTube arm officially launched YouTube Music. When it comes to smartphones and smartphone manufacturers, BlackBerry’s second Android device, referred to at the moment as the Vienna, was leaked in render images earlier this past week, and ASUS is now rumored to be launching augmented reality glasses in 2016.
