Meizu PRO 5 is one of the devices this China-based company has released this year, and it also happens to be the company’s flagship. The PRO 5 was announced in China back in September, and it is the only non-Samsung device that sports the Exynos 7420 14nm 64-bit octa-core processor. The PRO 5 was actually announced with Flyme 4.5 pre-installed, which is not the latest version of Meizu’s Android OS. Meizu PRO 5 was announced alongside the Flyme 5, and it was just a matter of time before this phablet gets the update to Flyme 5.
Well, that has just happened, Meizu has released the Flyme 5 update to PRO 5 device, but you won’t be able to get it via an OTA (over-the-air) update. This is the beta version of Meizu’s Flyme 5 OS, it’s not the final product, hence the requirement for a manual install. So, if you decide to upgrade, keep in mind that you might encounter some bugs here and there, so if you’re not ready to handle those, don’t upgrade until the final build is available. The Flyme 5 brings several updates to Flyme, along with some more subtle design changes. If you’d like to know more, follow this link. Now, if own a PRO 5, and would like to upgrade to Flyme 5, follow the source link down below where you’ll find instructions on how to do that.
The Meizu PRO 5 features a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED panel, along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). This handset is fueled by the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC along with a Mali-T760 MP8 GPU for graphics. The 21-megapixel shooter is available on the back of the PRO 5, along with a dual-LED, dual tone flash, and a Laser Autofocus. The 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front, and a 3,050mAh battery is also a part of this package. Meizu PRO 5 sports a physical home button below the display (mBack), which also serves as a capacitive back button. The phone is equipped with Meizu’s Quick Charge (mCharge) functionality, and Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on the device. It is also worth mentioning that you do get 4G LTE connectivity here, as well as dual-SIM functionality, while the device is made out of metal.
