Customers have been asking Samsung for a metal phone for years, and they technically got it with the Galaxy Alpha, although this was simply a metal frame but still retained the soft-touch plastic backing. It wasn’t until this year’s Galaxy S6 series of devices that Samsung unveiled an all metal and glass design for a new premium look and feel, and that same design has carried over to a couple of other handsets in their lineup like the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Now it seems the second gen Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 will be getting the same design treatment if the latest batch of leaks showing off the two phones is anything to go by.
It’s important to remember that these are still just leaks, so no design on these two phones in final as of yet. Having said that, both devices look astonishingly close in to the all metal and glass makeup of Samsung’s flagships so it’s quite possible that Samsung’s looking to bring some of that premium style to the mid-range selection of handsets. Each phone still has a home button which has essentially become a staple of Samsung devices, although there is no detail on whether or not either phone will carry a fingerprint sensor for mobile payments and security.
Design of the outer bodies aside, one of the leaked images shows the settings/about phone screen with listed details displaying the name of the device as Galaxy A3 just above the model number which, is unfortunately a little hard to make out. So far there are no confirmed details on the internals of either device, but recent rumors had cropped up showing off possible specifications for the Galaxy A3, including Android version 5.1.1 Lollipop which appears to be running on the phone in the leaks. The benchmark leak also revealed that the Galaxy A3 is supposed to be running on Samsung’s Exynos 7580 quad-core processor, while coming with what is potentially 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Since the end of 2015 is just around the corner there may be nothing to see or hear officially on these two phones until sometime in the beginning of next year.
