Samsung has released four new flagship devices this year, two smartphone, and two phablets. The company has also unveiled quite a few low and mid-range smartphones, but it seems like their second-gen ‘Galaxy A’ devices will be announced soon. The second-gen Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 have been popping up all over the internet recently. All three of these devices have popped up on benchmarking sites, while the Galaxy A3 and A5 have also surfaced on Zauba.
That being said, Samsung is also preparing to launch the 1st-gen Galaxy A9 handset, a smartphone that has leaked quite a few times before. The Galaxy A9 has popped up on Zauba and has been certified by Bluetooth SIG earlier this month. Well, the phone has now surfaced on Geekbench as well, which was to be expected. According to the Geekbench’s listing, the Galaxy A9 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 620 64-bit octa-core processor (big.LITTLE arrangement, 4 x Cortex A72 and 4 x Cortex A53 cores). The listing also reveals that the device will sport 3GB of RAM, and that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come out of the box here with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it, as expected. Now, the Galaxy A9 has managed to score 1446 points in the single-core, and 4,134 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench.
Based on this info, the Galaxy A9 will actually be Samsung’s powerful ‘Galaxy A’ device to date. This handset will sport a mid-range SoC, but the rest of its specs should be rather powerful, I guess we can put this device in the mid to high-end category. The Galaxy A9 will be made out of metal, and will almost certainly sport a metal unibody design. The fingerprint scanner will quite probably also be a part of this package, and it will be a front-facing unit (home button). It is also worth mentioning that the alleged Galaxy A9 handset surfaced a while back, even though it’s kind of hard to believe that leak was legit, the design is not exactly typical to Samsung, but we’ll see. Either way, the Galaxy A9 is expected to launch in the coming weeks, just like some other ‘Galaxy A’ handsets, stay tuned.
