Xiaomi has released all sorts of smart devices this year, including smartphones, TVs, a smart scale, air purifier… etc. This company really dabbles in pretty much anything tech related. As you probably already know, Xiaomi has released their Mi Band fitness tracker last year. This was one of the most affordable fitness trackers around, and it was actually quite good, especially if you consider its price. We’ve seen several leaks and rumors regarding its successor, the Mi Band 1S, but Xiaomi still hasn’t launched this device. Well, that might change soon, read on.
According to the newest report from China, Xiaomi will unveil the Mi Band 1S on November 11th. Interestingly enough, November 11th is known as ‘Singles Day’ in China, which is essentially China’s version of Black Friday. Xiaomi had an unbelievably successful Singles Day last year, and they’re hoping to do even better this time around. The company will actually step up with 11 straight days of sales, not just one, and according to the rumor, the Mi Band 1S will be announced on the first day of sales. As a side note, Xiaomi is also crowdsourcing a smartphone in order to announce it during the sales, quite probably the Redmi 2C.
Now, according to leaked images, this wearable will actually be very similar to the 1st gen device. The Mi Band 1S, however, will have a built-in heart rate monitor on the bottom, which is something that wasn’t present on the first-gen device. Considering the Mi Band 1S seems to have a rather similar design and size, we do expect its battery life will be somewhat lower than the one on the Mi Band, but we’ll see. The Mi Band 1S is expected to cost around 99 Yuan ($15), but we’re only guessing at the moment. As a side note, Mi Band sales hit 3.1 million units in the second quarter of this year. It is also worth mentioning that Xiaomi lowered the price of the original Mi Band earlier this year, which could also suggest that its successor is on the way. Either way, November 11th is right around the corner, stay tuned for more info.
