Android 6.0 hitting Employee version of the Droid Turbo 2

Last week, Motorola began sending out soak test emails to users of the Droid Turbo 2 that signed up for soak tests on the Motorola Feedback Network. A soak test is a way for Motorola to seed out an update to a handful of users and see if the update is good enough to go out to everyone. Generally if there are no issues, the update rolls out to everyone within a few days. It appears that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition has started getting its update to Android 6.0. And the version is 24.11.13, for those of you that might be interested in that. Which means that hopefully, users without the Employee edition (aka those that are not Verizon employees) should be getting the update in the coming days. Which would be a huge miracle, when compared to how long it took the Droid Turbo to get Lollipop last year.

No word on what’s new just yet, especially since Motorola hasn’t published a changelog. Which they likely will after the update is official. However, we can pretty much assume we’ll get all the same goodies as we got with the Moto X Pure Edition’s update to Marshmallow. Basically you lose Motorola Assist, and get a lot of the features that Google was touting in Marshmallow. This includes Doze, which is going to improve battery life on the Droid Turbo 2, which is already pretty great. Additionally there are other features like Google Now on Tap, allowing you to get information without getting into Google Now. It’s a really great feature, and one that’s going to be amazing once more smartphones get the feature. Marshmallow also brings better volume control, better word selection, and a whole lot more. Motorola’s apps have likely been updated too.

We’ll be keeping an eye out to see when the update is available for everyone else with the Droid Turbo 2. However, it shouldn’t be that much longer of a wait, at least that’s what we are hoping. Later this week, we should ideally see the update roll out, and as soon as it begins its roll out, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
