Asus Confirms ZenWatch 2 Coming To The UK Soon

Asus introduced their second generation smartwatch, the ZenWatch 2 back in September. The smartwatches from this company have always been among the most affordable ones running Android Wear, and this second iteration is no exception. The ZenWatch 2 lineup includes two smartwatches, one with a screen that measures 1.63 inches with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, just like the previous smartwatch and it integrates a 400 mAh battery, there’s also a smaller one with a 1.45-inch screen and a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels and a 300 mAh battery, both displays are made with AMOLED technology. Besides the difference in size and their respective batteries, the specifications on both watches are identical, they are powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor and 512 MB of RAM with 4 GB of internal memory.

The hardware features elements made of stainless steel in some color options and it’s rated IP67, making it water and dust resistant. The watch features a crown button to interact with the software and there are several bands in different colors and materials like rubber, leather and steel, which can be easily swapped. The companion app allows to customize the watch with several faces and there’s even an option to create your own. While there’s no heart rate sensor on this watch, it is still able to measure some fitness related activities with a pedometer and additional sensors.

The ZenWatch 2 has been available in the US for some time through the Google Store and now the watch is coming to the UK. The news was communicated on the official Twitter account of Asus UK. Not much information was given such as a release date or pricing information. Only “#ZenWatch2 is coming!” can be read, and there’s a link where those interested can register for additional information in the future. On the registration page, there’s a promotional video (which you can check below) showing several styles for the watch and towards the end, the watch can be seen in the two sizes and it can be read “Available online at Currys PC World”. The video might be suggesting that it will be available in different styles and sizes from that retailer exclusively at first.
