Many were wondering why the new tablet from Google, the Pixel C, had that letter in the name. And if it actually meant anything. Well in today’s AMA over on Reddit that the Pixel C team is conducting, they answered that question. The C stands for “Convertible”, not a huge surprise, seeing as it is a convertible tablet from the Pixel team that does run Android (it’s sorta kinda targeted at the Microsoft Surface, but not really). The Pixel C does have a pretty nice keyboard dock that you can purchase with it, and actually the Pixel C team also noted on the AMA that they were more focused on the physical keyboard experience for this release than adding a stylus to the tablet. However they didn’t rule out a stylus coming to a future Pixel C or even the current one. That’s something that many users have been looking for, especially with Samsung not having released a new Galaxy Note tablet in about 2 years now. Maybe Google can pick up where Samsung left off with stylus support and functions, and having it available for all Android devices would be great.
The Pixel C was built to resemble the design language of the first two Chromebook Pixel’s and those have been high quality but also pretty pricey – especially for a Chromebook – and the Pixel C is much the same, although not as pricey when compared to its competitors. The Pixel C comes in at a $499 price tag for a tablet that has a 10.2-inch 2560×1800 resolution display and powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 processor. There’s also a USB Type-C port, something no other tablet has right now, but it most definitely won’t be the last tablet to feature USB Type-C. It’s a pretty unique tablet, and one that is a first generation product so it will have its issues.
