Smartisan T2 Is Now Official With A S808 SoC & 3GB Of RAM

Smartisan is a China-based company not many people outside of China have heard of. This smartphone manufacturer hasn’t exactly released a ton of devices thus far, but they did showcase a couple of rather interesting products. The Smartisan T1 is the company’s flagship which was announced last year, and since then they’ve announced the Smartisan U1, a $140 mid-ranger. The company’s new flagship, the Smartisan T2, has been leaking for quite some time now, and it has been announced by the company quite recently, read on.

The Smartisan T2 sports a metallic frame, and glass on its front and back. The phone sports a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. The phone comes with 3GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. The 2,670mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor fuels this handset along with an Adreno 408 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of the Smartisan T2, while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper up front.

Now, as you can see, the Smartisan T2 actually features three physical buttons below the display, which is definitely a different approach by the company. There are a couple of customizable buttons on the sides, which basically looks like we have two sets of volume rockers. Well, you can opt which buttons you’d like to use as volume rockers, and the remaining ones you can set to do whatever you want. Another interesting fact, one set of those buttons pop out when you need to insert your SIM card, which is a very interesting design approach for sure. The Smartisan T2 offers 4G LTE support, of course, and the phone also ships with separate OPA1612 amp chips, which should offer great sound output.

What about software? Well, the Smartisan T2 runs Smartisan OS 2.5, a new version of the company’s Android skin. Keep in mind that this is a heavily changed Android skin, and it definitely is not for everyone, but it does come with a slew of software features. You’ll get video editing tools, screen recorder, GIF builder, etc. What about its price? Well, the 16GB variant of this handset costs 2,499 Yuan ($385), while the 32GB model can be purchased for 2,599 Yuan ($400).
