Snapseed is one of the more popular photo editing apps on Android, and today it got yet another update. Recently it added the ability to edit RAW images on your smartphone. And with some smartphones being able to take RAW images, this means you can then edit them in Snapseed instead of transferring them to your laptop to use Lightroom or the equivalent. Today’s update enhances some of those tools used for editing RAW photos, and of course the normal bug fixers are also included.
According to the changelog, “Improved editing quality for noisy RAW images”. So if you’ve taken some images at night or in a setting with terrible lighting, you can now get rid of some of that noise left in the image. Something that will be very helpful, because while these smartphones have fantastic cameras, they are not the best. But this helps bring them a bit closer. Snapseed also added the ability to copy and paste the RAW settings from one DNG onto another. Making it very helpful if you’re editing a boat load of photos. Which some people do actually do.
Filters, we all love filters, right? We can blame Instagram for that. Snapseed has a ton of great filters in their app that you can apply to your pictures. Snapseed did change the filters up a little bit. So now the app will default to the last applied style. Instead of just the first one in the app. So if you use the same filter all the time, it’s right there front and center. What more can you ask for.
The update is available on the Google Play Store now and will be rolling out to everyone in the coming days. So if you don’t have the update already, you should have it pretty soon. Although it does appear that the update may be available for everyone in the Play Store already, so go grab it. For those that use iOS as well, Snapseed updated their iOS app for both iPad and iPhone, and you can read more about that by hitting the source link below.
