2016 is almost here and with it, a great many apps and games throughout the Play Store have dropped their prices, some as low as ten cents. Right now is a great time to score some of those shiny new apps you’ve had your eye on or grab a game or two to play by the fire on those days you have to tell your boss you’re snowed in. We’ve listed a few below to get you started, but you’re sure to find many more by doing just a little hunting around.
For starters, Square Enix is practically having a blowout. The critically acclaimed reimagining of the iconic Tomb Raider series, Lara Croft GO, is up for grabs at a mere 99 cents. Tomb Raiders 1 and 2 from the series’ early days are the same price, for those looking for a history lesson or a simple nostalgia trip. Hitman: Sniper is down to 50 cents, which should coax anybody who’s been on the fence about jumping into the shoes of Agent 47. Deus Ex: The Fall and Hitman GO are also down to 99 cents. All Final Fantasy titles are currently half-off, as well. Timeless tale Chrono Trigger can be had for $4.99 at the moment, too. Rayman: Fiesta Run, an endless runner starring everybody’s favorite armless, legless and neckless hero, is down to 25 cents.
The lauded adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode is a mere 10 cents right now. Unfortunately, it seems Telltale is not offering chapter discounts on their free-to-download games such as The Walking Dead and Tales From The Borderlands. In the Kingdom Rush series of popular tower defense RPGs, the first entry is free while Frontiers and Origins ring in at 99 cents pop. Warner Brothers is in on the fun as well, putting Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham down to 99 cents. Disney has a couple of classic game remakes, Castle of Illusion and DuckTales: Remastered, down to 99 cents.
The deals mostly consist of games, but there are some deals on the productive side as well, including Calendar Status Pro for 99 cents, an app that lets you keep your calendar in your notification shade. A great number of productivity apps are always free, meaning far less discounted apps on the non-game side, but there are plenty to explore for those who may end up working from home this winter.
