Asus has managed to surprise many people at the beginning of last year when the company introduced a number of ZenFone 2 devices during CES in Las Vegas. The ZenFone 2 with 4GB of RAM on the inside was the biggest surprise of Asus’ event, and that handset is still very popular to date. Thanks to its solid specs, and not-so-high price tag, Asus has managed to sell quite a few of these devices throughout the year. The company has introduced a number of additional ‘ZenFone’ phones in 2015, including the big battery ZenFone Max handset which was originally announced back in August in India.
Despite the fact Asus introduced this smartphone in August, the phone hasn’t been available in the country thus far, well, until now. Asus has officially released the ZenFone Max in India quite recently. This handset sports a 5,000mAh battery on the inside, which is one of its main selling points. The phone features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 on top of it, along with 2GB of RAM on the inside. This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and it also offer 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable by the way. The 13-megapixel shooter is located on the back of this smartphone, along with a dual-LED, dual tone flash. The 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front, and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Asus’ Zen UI 2.0 skin which is installed on top of Google’s operating system. This is a dual-SIM smartphone, and it definitely resembles other ‘ZenFone’ device we’ve seen announced this year.
As far as pricing goes, this smartphone is available in India for Rs. 9,999 ($150). Now, to be more exact, the device is available for pre-order at the moment, and the company will start shipping the device starting from January 20th. If you live in India, and are interested in purchasing one of these phones, you’ll need to head over to Flipkart’s website considering the device is available exclusively through that India-based retailer, at least for now.
