Android is an open source operating system, and one of its biggest advantages over other OS’ out there is customizability. Google’s operating system had a ton of flaws in the past, still has them, but Google is slowly closing that gap. Every operating system has its flaws though, but despite its flaws, Android is currently the most popular mobile operating system in the world. The level of customizability it allows is commendable. Let’s take third party keyboards as an example, Android has been offering this feature to its users for years, and years, and iOS got it less than two years ago.
There are tons of third-party keyboards available in the Google Play Store, like TouchPal, Swiftkey, Fleksy, Go Keyboard… and a number more, not to mention that Google has their very own keyboard, the Google Keyboard. That being said, we’ve stumbled upon yet another, relatively new option, the Chrooma Keyboard app. Now, this keyboard resembles Google Keyboard quite a bit, and it even offers Swipe as one of its features. Unlike Google Keyboard, however, it allows you to customize it, and it’s quite colorful. This keyboard is resizable, and it supports quite a few languages, while it also offers a night mode option. There are a ton of emojis included in here, and you can customize its layout. You can chance the color of Chrooma Keyboard the way you want, and you can even get it to change colors on its own, depending on in which app are you at the moment. The Material Design is visible all over this application, which is a plus if you appreciate well-executed design.
Chrooma isn’t perfect though, there are still some quirks the developer is working on, and new features are en route as well. The developer seems to be quite active, and is constantly releasing updates for this app, not to mention he’s quite quick to respond to reviews, which is always a good sign.
