Curvier Samsung Flagship Envisioned In This Galaxy S7 Concept

Concept designs for smartphones can be pretty interesting, no matter how far off the mark they may end up being from the final results put forth by the manufacturer, and if nothing else they display what could have been only if companies would truly recognize and take to heart the effort in design dreamt up by a handful of individuals. The most recent concept to surface comes in the form of a video of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship, showing off elements of last year’s Galaxy S6 fused together with a few new tweaks, and ultimately an all around curvier design to the handset.

While this seems to draw heavily from the overall design of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, there are obvious changes to the design that can be seen from the image above as well as throughout the video. The most noticeable change would likely be the curved part of the display that wraps under the bottom edge of the phone in addition to the curves on the left and right edges, giving users just a little bit more screen space to work with, albeit with the inclusion of what looks like the fingerprint sensor integrated with the display under the area of an on-screen home button, nestled in between the back and recents buttons in the navigation bar, instead of using a physical home button with an integrated fingerprint sensor like last year’s flagships.

The power button sits on the right side of the phone while the volume buttons are located on the left. One of the biggest things users were clamoring for on the Galaxy S6 only to be let down was expandable storage, and in this concept it has been brought back, only the microSD card slot sits on the bottom of the device directly next to the bottom-mounted speaker. The only things which aren’t visible are the 3.5mm audio port, and the charging port, which we can only assume is envisioned as being located on the top of the device, and since the top isn’t shown there is no way to know what the designer had in mind, but this seems like the case. While some people might not be too keen on the bottom curve for the screen, the inclusion of a microSD card slot, with easy access on the bottom of the phone seems like it might capture some attention. Although this concept certainly has some flair to it, the actual design is likely to be more along the lines of recently leaked renders, which follow more closely with the design of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6.
