Elephone has, as scheduled, held a press event in China today. The company has introduced four new devices during the event, including three P9000 devices and the W2 smartwatch. That being said, we’ve already covered the announcement of one handset, the Elephone P9000 Edge, Elephone’s first bezel-less handset. This smartphone does not sport any bezel on the sides, and offers a really nice set of specs as well, if you’re interested, check out our previous article.
We’re here to talk about the remaining two P9000 devices, the P9000 and P9000 Lite. Now, unlike the P9000 Edge, these two handsets do not sport bezel-less design, but they still look really sharp and offer really solid hardware on the inside. Let’s kick things off with the Elephone P9000, shall we. This smartphone is powered by the same SoC you’ll find in the P9000 Edge, the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core chip. This handset also sports 4GB of RAM, and will ship with 32GB of internal storage. The phone features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and a 3,000mAh battery on the inside which offers Quick Charging (9V / 2.5A). This tech will bring your phone from 0 to 100% in 70 minutes, in case you were wondering. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this phone, along with the laser autofocus and the LED flash. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed here, and Elephone has skinned parts of the OS. This handset, much like the Elephone P9000 Edge, offers Wireless Charging and NFC, while it sports a fingerprint scanner on its back as well. The Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of the device, and you also get two SIM card slots and 4G LTE connectivity. This handset is 8mm thick, and as you can see, it sports really thin bezels all around.
The P9000 Lite is actually quite similar to the P9000 in terms of the design, and even specifications. Like both other P9000 devices, this handset comes with the Helio P10 SoC and 4GB of RAM, while it also sports 32GB of internal storage, just like the P9000. The 13-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of this phone, but it seems to sport a different sensor compared to the Elephone P9000, you’ll find OmniVision’s OV3850 sensor here. The front-facing snapper counts 5-megapixels, and you don’t get Wireless Charging, Fingerprint Scanner or NFC here. The Type-C USB port and Android 6.0 Marshmallow are available here though. We still don’t know when will these two phones going to be available, nor how much will they cost.
UPDATE: new video showing off features of these two devices is now available.
