Gionee has introduced a number of devices in 2015, including their Elife E8 flagship phablet. This device was introduced alongside the Marathon M5 mid-ranger back in June 2015. The company has announced some additional devices later in the year, including two additional ‘Marathon’ phones, the Marathon M5 Lite and M5 Plus. Well, it seems like this Chinese smartphone manufacturer is planning to release yet another handset soon, at least according to Geekbench’s listing, read on.
The Gionee W909 surfaced on Geekbench quite recently, and its specs are a combination between mid-range and high-end. The device will be fueled by MediaTek’s Helio P10 (MT6755M) 64-bit octa-core SoC, while it will also sport 4GB of RAM on the inside. The listing also revealed that Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this device, with Gionee’s custom UI on top of it, of course. The Gionee W909 managed to score 820 points in the single-core test on Geekbench, while it scored 3,102 in the multi-core test. That is pretty much all the info that was provided by Geekbench, but we’re sure additional leaks will reveal the rest of this handset’s specs, along with its name.
The Gionee W909 seems to be a mid-range handset with quite a bit of RAM on the inside, this will actually be Gionee’s first handset with 4GB of RAM on the inside, if it arrives at all that is. We’ve already seen some devices leak with that exact same setup (Helio P10 + 4GB of RAM), like the Elephone P9000 (Edge) which is expected to arrive soon. MediaTek’s Helio P10 will be one of the most used processors in the mobile world in 2016, at least according to the latest report. MediaTek has already announced their Helio X20 flagship SoC, and we’ll start seeing that chip fuel devices soon. The Helio P10, on the other hand, is their new 64-bit mid-range offering. This smartphone will most likely ship with a 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and we do expect it to launch in the coming weeks, but we’ll see. That’s pretty much it, stay tuned for additional Gionee coverage, we’ll report back as soon as something pops up.
