In 2015, ASUS and Google partnered up for the Chromebit. Which is an HDMI dongle that can turn your TV into a Chrome OS device, or basically a Chromebase. It’s just a plug and play dongle. Making things really easy to get done. It was put on the shelf for a bit before being made available to everyone to purchase, and last fall it finally became available. It’s a pretty useful product, actually. Especially if you don’t have a Smart TV, this is an easy way to change that. The Chromebit comes in at under $100, and in many colors.
ASUS has thrown in some pretty decent specs for the Chromebit. It’s running on a Rockchip 3288 system-on-a-chip, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There’s also a USB 2.0 Port, WiFi 802.11 ac support and Bluetooth 4.0. So you’ve got everything you need right there, and can even connect a mouse or keyboard to it via Bluetooth or the USB port (and if you need two, there are some great USB hubs out there). We got a chance to go hands on with the ASUS Chromebit here at CES 2016 this week. It’s a fantastic little Chrome OS dongle, we’d definitely recommend picking one up.
