Lenovo has been all over the news in the last couple of days, mainly because one of their exes released a ton of info during his interview with Tech Sina in China. The company’s exec confirmed that Google Play Services are coming back to China this year, while he as also talked about Lenovo’s Vibe and Moto brands. At first, he hinted that Moto E and Moto G lines are going to become a thing of the past, but Lenovo officially denied that. Now, the company did confirm that ‘Motorola’ will cease to exist soon, but ‘Moto’ branding will be kept as part of Lenovo.
That being said, we’ve talked about one Lenovo-branded device earlier today, the Lenovo Lemon 3. This entry-level smartphone is a direct competitor to the Redmi 3, and has launched quite recently in China. Well, another Lenovo-branded handset has popped up in China, it just got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), the Lenovo K5. According to TENAA’s listing, this handset will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The device will be fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 1.8GHz, while a Mali-T860 MP2 GPU will be included here as well. Now, this handset will almost certainly going to be fueled by the Helio P10 SoC, the same chip that we’ve talked about yesterday. Helio P10 will reportedly power quite a few devices this year, including the Elephone P9000 series of devices, and the mysterious Gionee device that leaked recently.
The Lenovo K5 will also sport a 13-megpaixel shooter on its back, and an 8-megapixel camera up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Lenovo’s UI available on top of Google’s OS. The phone will measure 152 x 75.7 x 8.49, while it will weight 165 grams. It is also worth mentioning that this device will be made out of metal, and that its fingerprint scanner will be located below the rear-facing camera sensor.
