Huawei is currently the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and the company had plenty to say at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. This China-based company held a press conference at the tradeshow yesterday, and during the conference they’ve announced new products, and re-released some already announced ones. The most notable announcement was the introduction of the Mate 8 flagship during the show, this phablet has been announced in China at the end of last year, but this was its international launch.
Huawei has also introduced the MediaPad M2 tablet, the GX8 smartphone, and has also confirmed that both the Honor 5X and Honor Band Z1 are arriving to the US. We’ve already covered the Honor 5X availability info in a separate article, and are here to talk more about the company’s smartbrand. The Honor Band Z1 was originally announced as the ‘Honor Band Zero’ in August last year, and was then re-branded for the international market when Huawei launched it in India only 2 months after the original announcement. This smartband actually looks like a small watch, it sports a 1.06-inch 128 x 128 circular OLED panel up front (touchscreen), but its features are fitness-focused. This smartband will track your activity and sleep, as pretty much every other fitness tracker would. The 70mAh battery is available on the inside, and Huawei says that it will last for about 3 days of normal use, and the Band is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The Honor Band Z1 is compatible with both Android (4.4+) and iOS (7+) operating systems, in case you were wondering.
The Honor Band Z1 offers a sleek looking, clean design, and some people might even think it’s a small smartwatch at first glance. Anyhow, the Honor Z1 will be available in the US before the end of this month, according to Huawei, and you’ll be able to purchase it through Honor’s official website for $79. Now, there are plenty of activity tracker options in the US at the moment, and it will be interesting to see if the Honor Band Z1 will sell as well as the company is hoping it will.
