As it’s usually the case this time of year, many companies have been publishing their sales figures for the year before. Huawei has been the most successful China-based smartphone manufacturer, not only did they manage to become the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer, but the company has sold around 109 million handsets last year. Xiaomi has also been very successful, they’ve improved upon the results from 2014, even though they didn’t reach their sales goal. Xiaomi has managed to sell around 70 million devices, even though their goal was to hit 80 million. Oppo managed to sell 50 million units, and so on.
That being said, you’ve probably heard of Honor, which is Huawei’s subsidiary. Now, Honor is also, technically, Huawei’s subbrand, but they tend to look at it as a separate entity from time to time. Now, Honor has been around for only two years now, and to this day they managed to sell 60 million devices. Judging by the latest info, Honor has sold around 20 million units in 2014, and 40 million in 2015, at least according to the data provided from Phone Radar. The image you can see above this article was actually taken during Huawei’s, well, Honor’s event in India earlier today. The company has introduced the Honor 5X and Honor Holly 2 Plus to the Indian consumers. These two devices are the company’s mid-range offerings, and the Honor 5X has been quite popular ever since it was introduced in China back in October.
Now, Huawei has released quite a few compelling devices last year, including the company’s Mate 8 flagship phablet, their Android Wear-powered Huawei Watch, and the Nexus 6P which they manufactured for Google. Huawei has actually introduced quite a bit more devices last year, but these are the most compelling ones probably, next to the Honor 5X. All this resulted in great sales figures for Huawei, in China and beyond, and same can be said for Honor as well, if we look at it separately. 2016 has just begun, and it will be interesting to see what happens next, especially considering the fact that both analysts and Chinese smartphone manufacturers expect their sales to slow down considerably.
