Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus Unveiled In India, Costs $125

Huawei is currently on a phone launching spree. The company is enjoying a huge increase in its smartphone business in recent times, having gained fans not just in its home country of China, but also in various regions around the world. While India is still not exactly the biggest of markets for Huawei, the company understands the importance of the market, and desperately wants to be a leading player in what is already the third largest smartphone market globally. That being the case, Huawei has now launched not one, but two affordable smartphones in India at the press event the company had scheduled for Thursday, January 28th.

While most of the tech media in the country had expected Huawei to launch the Honor 5X at the event – which it duly did – the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has now launched an entry-level handset to go along as well. Dubbed the Honor Holly 2 Plus for international markets and priced at Rs. 8,499 ($125) in India, the smartphone was originally launched in Huawei’s home base of China late last year as the Huawei Enjoy 5. The device will be offered in three colors in India – Grey, Gold and White, and will reportedly be available for purchase from the 15th of next month on the two largest online retail platforms in the country – Amazon and Flipkart.

Coming to the Honor Holly 2 Plus, the smartphone features a 5-inch IPS display with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6735 chipset that comes with an integrated quad-core CPU clocked at a maximum frequency of 1.3 GHz, along with a Mali-T720 GPU from ARM. The handset has 2 GB of RAM and only 16 GB of internal storage, but the presence of a microSD card slot allows for capacity expansion by as much as 128 GB. Android 5.1 Lollipop is pre-installed, with an Emotion UI 3.1 overlay. Connectivity options on the handset includes 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG. As for the cameras, the primary shooter comes with a 13-megapixel sensor with LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, OmniVision BSI sensor and 28mm wide-angle lens. The secondary camera, meanwhile, is a 5-megapixel unit. The phone comes with LTE connectivity and carries a 4,000 mAh battery.
