Xiaomi has introduced quite a few smartphones and other hardware devices last year, but this China-based company has also showcased some software for us. As most of you know, Xiaomi is developing their very own Android-based OS called MIUI, and MIUI 7 was introduced by Xiaomi a couple of months back. Well, the company has decided to tease the arrival of MIUI 7.1 yesterday, and we’re glad to report that the update has started rolling out to both Chinese and international versions of Xiaomi’s devices, read on.

The Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, Mi 4i, Redmi 2 / Prime, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note 3G and Mi Pad will get the update as far as global variants are concerned. Now, speaking of Chinese models, the update is rolling out to Mi 3, Mi 4 3G/4G, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi 4i, Mi 4C, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G single SIM / Dual SIM, Mi Pad 1 and 2. We knew which models will get the update yesterday, but Xiaomi did not release the full changelog back then. The changelog is available now, however, and if you follow the source link down below, you’ll get to see the full list of changes Xiaomi introduced with this update. The list is quite long, so we won’t mention every single one here, but Xiaomi did squash quite a few bugs and fixed a number of functions throughout the system. The company has also introduced some new features, especially in the ‘File Explorer’ application. The company has added private folders, more encryption options, you can now add ‘File Explorer’ shortcut to your homescreen, etc. The ‘Data Saver’ function is also new, and the ‘Mi Drop’ option has been optimized as well. This is essentially a feature which should help you transfer files between devices.

There are quite a few additional changes you can check out if you click on the source link down below, and if you’d like to get the update on your device, go to ‘Updater’ app and check if the OTA is available yet. If it’s not, it will be in the near future, but for those of you who don’t want to wait, you can always install the update manually. Download links are available in the source link, but make sure you know what you’re doing before you opt to install the update manually.
