Samsung Officially Introduces Fresh Designs For the Gear S2 Classic

One of last year’s more popular smartwatches let alone wearables was Samsung’s Gear S2 Classic smartwatch, partially because it offered up a few different style and choice options in the way of design for consumers, but also because Samsung made it compatible with more than just Samsung devices unlike the original Gear S. Today during CES 2016 Samsung has just officially announced new materials and designs for the Gear S2 classic bringing in a fresh new look and new possibilities for users looking to pick up the Gear S2 as their smartwatch off choice. These new style designs offer up a level of elegance not previously available from the range.

Included are two new material styles for the Gear S2 Classic, both which feature a watch case with a more premium material build. The first is the 18k Rose Gold option, while the other is a Gear S2 encased in Platinum, bringing consumers a more high-end version of the popular wearable product from one of the mobile industry’s biggest OEM’s. Both of these new models were previously spotted at CES earlier today before Samsung’s official announcement. Samsung states that the new Gear S2 Classic models will be able to utilize Samsung Pay through NFC technology integrated into the watch, now making it possible for users to pay for goods using the device on their wrist instead of having to reach for their phones. To initiate payments, users will need to have Samsung Pay on the device which will be made available to Gear S2 users wearly this year.

Both new versions of the Gear S2 Classic will be made available to consumers starting next month, each coming with a unique genuine leather strap to mesh with the color of the case material. The Rose Gold model will feature an ivory genuine leather strap, while the Platinum model comes with a Black genuine leather strap. While availability isn’t too far off, Samsung has kept quiet on where exactly the watches will be sold, and how much they’ll cost consumers who are interested in grabbing one of these more premium versions. Samsung’s original Gear S2 Classic sits at $349.99 though, so chances are that these new models with high-grade materials won’t be cheap, as Samsung is probably looking to appeal to the market of consumers who want to have something more high-end, perhaps to better compete with the premium models of the Apple Watch.
