The launch date for the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S7 is getting closer, so rumors about the handset have been surfacing. Most rumors mention that the design of the company’s new flagship would borrow some elements from the previous generation device. This wouldn’t be too shocking as most people seemed to be quite satisfied with the way those devices look and everyone appreciated the improved build quality compared to previous generations. More recent rumors stated that Samsung would use a curved back made out of glass to improve the phone’s ergonomics, much like in the Galaxy Note 5.
Visual designer Jermaine Smit is known for making conceptual videos of smartphones, so he made a video with a render of how he thinks the Galaxy S7 will end up looking like. This was based on a recent leak, which included images and a video allegedly depicting the phone. Smit’s video includes the phone rendered in 3D, so we can see many different angles of the phone. There’s also a dramatic soundtrack complementing the subtle light reflections on the shiny surfaces of the handset. The front of the device features the screen with narrower side bezels, 2.5D glass covering the display and the iconic Home button. The button placement on the metallic frame surrounding the device looks almost identical to the one used on the Galaxy S6, but the SIM tray has been moved to the top. The video doesn’t show the bottom of the device, but it will probably house components such as the charging port, speaker grille, and headphone jack. The hump of the main camera on the back doesn’t stick out as much, which has been stated in some rumors and the flash and heart rate sensor hasn’t changed very much. The video shows 5 color options, including rose gold, silver, black, blue and gold.
Let’s remember that this phone is supposed to depict the regular version of the Galaxy S7, while there have been rumors suggesting that this phone will be launched alongside a larger Galaxy S7 Edge with a curved screen on the sides. We’ll have to wait until the phone is made official to confirm all of the rumors and we’ll see if this animated render resembles the actual product.
