Samsung has already confirmed that they’ll launch their new flagship on February 21st, the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 Edge will almost certainly launch alongside the Galaxy S7, and while we’re waiting for that event to take place, we’re seeing some of Samsung’s entry-level and mid-range offerings surface. The 2nd-gen Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 have been released in India yesterday, and today the 2nd-gen Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 popped up in Bluetooth SIG.
The Galaxy J5 and J7 have been originally announced back in June last year. These two phones can be considered Samsung’s entry-level offerings, one step below the company’s Galaxy A line of devices. That being said, the 2nd-gen Galaxy J5 and J7 have surfaced on Bluetooth SIG, which basically confirms the existence of these two devices. This is actually not the first time we’re seeing these two devices leak out, both the Galaxy J5 and J7 have been benchmarked on GFXBench last month, and those benchmark listings revealed their specifications. According to that info, the Galaxy J5 will ship with a 5.2-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This phone will also going to pack in the Snapdragon 410 SoC, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. The Galaxy J7, on the other hand, is said to feature a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 2GB / 3GB of RAM and a 4,300mAh battery on the inside. This smartphone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 615 or Exynos 7870 SoC, depending on the market. As far as software is concerned, these two phones will probably ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box considering they’re expected to get announced in June. The physical home button will be available on both of these phones, of course, and the fingerprint scanner might also be a part of the package, at least on the Galaxy J7.
That is pretty much it, these are Samsung’s entry-level devices, and you can expect their price to reflect that. These two phones are expected to be more affordable than the Galaxy A line, but we’ll see what happens once Samsung officially announces these phones. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll let you know if any new piece of information surfaces before the official announcement takes place.
