Motorola has introduced three generations of their mid-range Moto G handset thus far, and the latest iteration arrived back in August last year, alongside the Moto X Play and Moto X Style handsets. We’ve talked at length about that handset thus far, and are here to discuss its predecessor actually, considering the fact that Moto G (2nd-gen) just got the update in India, read on.
The Moto G (2nd-gen) was announced back in September 2014, and has been around for quite some time now. This handset is still quite popular in certain regions around the world, like in India for example. Well, Motorola has just started seeding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in that Asian country to both Moto G 3G and 4G variants of this handset. We knew that the update was coming soon considering the fact Motorola actually started its soak test a couple of weeks back. The Moto X Style update arrived a couple f months ago, and Moto X Play, Moto G (3rd-gen and Moto G Turbo Edition got the update last month. The Moto G (2nd-gen) actually came with KitKat originally, but has received a couple of updates since then. Anyhow, this is an OTA (Over-The-Air) update, and we’re looking at v24.41.34 version of the software here. The update itself weighs 464.2MB, and it includes the Android security update for last month. If the update is still not available on your device, it will be soon, and you can always check for it manually through the phone’s settings.
The Motorola Moto G (2nd-gen) sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display, along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. This handset is fueled by the Snapdragon 400 quad-core SoC running at 1.2GHz, along with an Adreno 305 GPU for graphics. The 8-megapixel shooter is placed on its back, and a 2-megapixel snapper is available up front. This phone ships with a 2,070mAh non-removable battery, while it measures 141.5 x 70.7 x 11mm, and weighs 149 grams. That is pretty much it, the update will be landing on your handset soon, if it hasn’t already.
