This morning, the four US carriers – Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T – all opened up pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Best Buy, the only physical retailer in the US to offer the two devices also opened up their pre-orders today. So for those looking to pick up the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, you can do so from Best Buy. The prices are the same as they would be at the carrier. Best Buy only sells smartphones for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, unfortunately T-Mobile still doesn’t authorize them to sell smartphones on their behalf.
For those that might be wondering, Best Buy is offering the free Gear VR and free six-pack of Gear VR games for those that pre-order the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge. The promotion will continue through until March 18th. So if you’re on the edge in regards to upgrading and do want to get the Gear VR, now’s a great time to pre-order a brand new Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge. Both of which are fantastic phones. Unfortunately in the US we are stuck with just black or gold.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge feature mostly the same specs including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage with a microSD card slot and a 12-megapixel camera around back. Where things differ is the display, where the Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch display and the Galaxy S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch display which is also curved on the left and right sides. Both are 2560×1440 Super AMOLED displays. The Galaxy S7 features a 3000mAh battery inside with the Galaxy S7 Edge featuring a 3600mAh battery inside, a big improvement over last years models. We’re also looking at Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board with the latest version of Touchwiz.
Pre-orders started today and they will ship in time for March 11th delivery. That’s less than three weeks from the time that the two devices were announced. That’s some pretty good turnaround time for Samsung, compared to recent years – last year the Galaxy S6 went on sale nearly 6 weeks after it was announced.
