The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets are about to be announced in about 24 hours as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. These two smartphones have been leaking out for quite some time now, and we basically know what will they look at already considering tons of renders have already surfaced. Well, in case that’s not enough for you, @OnLeaks has shared some close-up comparisons of the new devices, and their predecessors, read on.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see quite a few images comparing Samsung’s new and old Galaxy S flagships. The source has shared a number of Galaxy S6 vs S7, and S7 vs S7 Edge renders stacked one to the other, which give you a perfect idea of what will the new phones look like, and what are the differences compared to the current-gen devices. As you can see, these devices do look quite similar, but there are also some significant differences here considering the fact Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge evolved in a way. As you can see in the images, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have visibly thinner bezels than its predecessors, and that is especially visible when you look at the comparison between the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The home button on the new devices also looks somewhat different, and the camera hump is significantly thinner as well. Now, there’s no denying these devices are quite similar though, but Samsung really didn’t have a reason to change the whole design this time around, they only wanted to refine the design they already came up with.
The Galaxy S7 is rumored to sport a 5.1-inch, and Galaxy S7 Edge a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, These two phones will ship with 4GB of RAM on the inside, and more than one internals storage variant will be available. Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 SoCs will fuel these phones (depending on which variant you purchase), and a fingerprint scanner will be built into the physical home key. The 12.2-megapixel BRITECELL sensor is going to be available on the back of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, while either a 5 or 8-megapixel camera will be available up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed here, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI available on top of it. The two devices will probably sport the IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, while the always-on and pressure sensitive display was also mentioned quite a few times thus far.
