Pretty much everyone who is into tech knows that the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is going to be held in Barcelona later this month. A number of companies already confirmed that they’ll be releasing their flagship offerings at the trade show, like Samsung, LG and Xiaomi, for example. Samsung will be introducing two handsets, according to the available info, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, both of which have been leaking like crazy over the last couple of weeks. We’ve seen tons of rumored / leaked info lately, and yet another piece of information just arrived, read on.
According to a dutch site Android World, pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will kick off the same day the two devices get announced, February 21st. That’s not all though, the site also claims that Samsung will start shipping those devices to those consumers who pre-order them on March 11th. To make things even more interesting, it seems like Samsung will include Gear VR headset to those of you who pre-order one of the two handsets between February 21st and March 10th. Samsung will, allegedly, do this in order to bring more attention to Virtual Reality, something the company is becoming more and more interested in.
Now, the source also claims that the 32GB model of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be available in Netherlands from the get-go, but they also mentioned that microSD card support will probably also be a part of the package. The two devices will be available in three color options in Netherlands according to Android World, and the units will be available directly from Samsung, or one of the following retailers: Cool Blue, Belsimpel, MediaMarkt and Student Mobile.
The Galaxy S7 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S7 Edge might ship with a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED panel. Both of these phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 SoCs, depending on where you live / which model you purchase. These phones will also pack in 4GB of RAM, and will be available in a number of internal storage variants. The 12.2-megapixel BRITECELL camera has been mentioned in various leaks, and that’s probably the sensor Samsung will use, but there’s a chance they’ll incorporate Sony’s 23-megapixel unit, or some sort of an ISOCELL sensor. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on these two phones, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will be available on top of Google’s operating system.
