Sunday was quite an interesting day for those people who love mobile technology, both LG and Samsung have introduced their newest flagship smartphone offerings in Barcelona as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC). We’ve talked quite a bit about those devices already, and considering new info keeps on coming, our coverage is not nearly over. A number of US-based carriers have already confirmed the availability of the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge handsets, and now we have some additional availability news to share with you, read on.
Samsung basically confirmed that the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge handsets will be available in a number of countries starting March 11, including both the U.S. and Europe, but the company wasn’t all that specific. Well, according to a Korean publication Yonhap News, Samsung’s exec actually confirmed that the devices will launch in 60 countries starting March 11th, even though he still didn’t provide a full list of countries the devices will land in. Still, knowing that the phones will reach 60 countries on March 11 actually says a lot, this means that the rollout might be similar to the rollout of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets they company has released last year. It is also worth mentioning that the company is actually offering a free Gear VR who pre-order one of the two smartphones between February 23rd and March 18th. Either way, we’ll let you know when the company releases a more specific info. On top of all this, Samsung’s exec has also said that the company expects Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge to surpass Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge sales, but we’ll see what happens.
The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are quite powerful devices. Both of these phones are made out of metal and glass, while both of them sport 4GB of RAM and QHD Super AMOLED displays as well. The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display, while the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch panel. The 12-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of these devices, and a 5-megapixel shooter can be found up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on these two handsets, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is installed on top of Google’s OS. That is pretty much it, if any additional info surface, we’ll make sure to let you know, stay tuned.
