Is This Our First Look at the Galaxy S7?

With Mobile World Congress just a couple weeks away now, it’s unsurprising that we’re starting to see even more rumors and leaks surrounding the most anticipated phones hit the net. Accessory listings and cases for the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 have leaked out over the past week or two in increasing frequency, and now we might have what could be our first look at a Galaxy S7 in the flesh, fresh out of Vietnam, not unlike the leaks of previous flagship smartphones and tablet from previous years.

The new image shows us what appears top be a black or possibly blue Galaxy S7 in the flesh and while there’s not too much we can see in the image itself, it does match up to previously-leaked renders that are out there right now. There’s no more hump for the camera and the curves around the back edges are more pronounced here, ticking two boxes for the biggest leaks we’ve heard about the Galaxy S7 so far. The leakster in question also mentions that the rumored Exynos variant of the Galaxy S7 will be 15% quicker than the Snapdragon equivalent and charge from 0% to 80% in around half an hour. This builds on the quick charging element of the Galaxy S6 line from last year and the battery life is said to be somewhere near the Galaxy Note 5’s battery life. There’s an ESS Sabre 9018 DAC (digital-to-analog converter) rumored to be onboard here as well, making it every bit the HiFi machine as the V10 was last year.

While a water-resistant Galaxy S7 is also mentioned here by the leak out of Vietnam, it’s unclear just how Samsung will go about implementing said tech into the final product. Price wise, the leakster says the Galaxy S7 will start at 16.49 million dong (around $740) in Vietnam and that it will go on sale March 18th, a week after the rumored March 11 launch for the US and Europe. This probably won’t be the last we hear or see of the Galaxy S7 before its official launch on February 21st, but it could very well be our first look at the device in the flesh.
