Letv became LeEco quite recently when the company announced that they’re re-branding. Anyhow, this company has introduced five smartphones thus far, and the latest one is the LeEco Le Max Pro. Now, this handset is quite interesting, not only because it sport rather appealing hardware, but also because it was the world’s first Snapdragon 820-powered handset. Well, the Le Max Pro just became the first Snapdragon 820-powred handset to go on sale as well, read on.
The Le Max Pro was introduced last month during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. LeEco did not say when will this smartphone become available, though they did tease its availability a couple of days ago via Weibo (Chinese social network). Well, the company actually released 1,000 Le Max Pro units for sale, which makes this handset the first ever Snapdragon 820 device to go on sale as well. It is impossible to report on this and not mention that Xiaomi plans to introduce the Mi 5 tomorrow, their new flagship which will also be fueled by the Snapdragon 820. So, LeEco obviously wanted to become the first one to start selling a Snapdragon 820 phone, hence the timing. Now, these 1,000 units were released in China, and they’re not exactly commercial models, but engineering ones. These devices were available for 1,999 Yuan ($305), and we guess that the commercial variants will be significantly more expensive.
The Le Max Pro features a 6.33-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This phablet is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics processing. The 21-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of this phablet, and below it, you’ll notice the fingerprint scanner. The 3,400mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed here, and LeEco’s custom UI is available on top of Google’s OS. The Le Max Pro is made out of metal, and it offer a unibody design.
