The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is right around the corner, and many smartphone manufacturers have already announced their press events. Samsung is one of those companies, this Korea-based tech giant will hold their Unpacked event on February 21st, the same day LG will introduce their G5 flagship. Samsung will finally unveil their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones, and put an end to various rumors and leaks that have been popping up over the last couple of weeks, even months.
That being said, these two devices quite probably won’t be the only thing Samsung announces at MWC, Samsung Pay news will be shared, and it is possible that we’ll see a new version of Gera VR or something of the sort. Now, it is possible that Samsung intends on releasing next-gen Galaxy Tab S tablets, even though a separate event might be reserved for something like that. Either way, the Galaxy Tab S2 tablets surfaced on GFXBench and Geekbench sites. The SM-T719 and SM-T819 devices popped up on Zauba recently, and now they showed their faces again. As a side note, Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 carried the SM-T715 and SM-T815 model numbers, so these are definitely their successors.
Anyhow, the SM-T719 surfaced on Geekbench, and managed to score 1,441 points in the single-core, and 4,609 points in the multi-core test. The listing says that this tablet will be fueled by an octa-core SoC running at 1.4GHz (Snapdragon 652?), it’s actually somewhat surprising the company didn’t opt for a more premium chip. This listing also reveals that 3GB of RAM will be included here, and that Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will ship out of the box, while Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will be available on top of it.
Now, the SM-T819 showed its face on GFXBench, and this listing shares somewhat more info regarding specs. The listing says that this tablet sports a 9.6-inch 2048 x 1536 display, though it is possible we’re looking at a 9.7-inch panel again. This device will also ship with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The 8-megapixel rear-facing camera will be included here, and a 2-megapixel snapper will be placed up front. This listing says that the device will be fueled by an octa-core SoC running at 1.8GHz, and Adreno 510 GPU, which points towards the Snapdragon 652 SoC. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this phone as well. It seems a bit odd Samsung didn’t opt for a higher-end chip, and further spec improvements, these two devices don’t really look like next-gen tablets, but we’ll see what happens.
