Over 170 Million Users Worldwide Now Use Xiaomi's MIUI OS

Xiaomi has been founded back in 2010. This company has not been around that long, and yet they’ve managed to become China’s number one smartphone manufacturer in less than 5 years. Xiaomi is still, to this day, the no. 1 smartphone manufacturer in China (as far as Chinese shipments go), even though Huawei is getting awfully close. That being said, Xiaomi has started off as an MIUI developer, which is an Android ROM. Well, MIUI OS actually comes pre-installed on Xiaomi’s Android devices these days, and the company has shared some interesting MIUI info during their Xiaomi Mi 5 presentation yesterday, read on.

As you probably already know, the company has introduced their Mi 5 flagship in both Beijing and Barcelona yesterday. During that presentation, the company has shared some MIUI adoption numbers with the public. According to the company, MIUI ROM is now being used by over 170 million users worldwide. MIUI has crossed the 100 million mark back in February last year, which means that they managed to get an additional 70 million users in just one year. The company has also said that the ROM is now available in over 340 handsets all over the world, which is quite interesting. Xiaomi is one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers in the world at the moment, and it seems like their MIUI OS is growing even faster.

Now, the latest version of MIUI is version 7, which comes pre-installed on the Xiaomi Mi 5. Keep in mind that Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with Andriod 6.0 Marshmallow, but MIUI 7 is not limited to the latest version of Android, you can find this ROM installed on top of some older versions of Android, like the Xiaomi Mi 4C for example. That being said, Xiaomi’s recently introduced smartphone actually packs in really capable hardware on the inside, in order to complement Xiaomi’s software. This smartphone ships with a 5.15-inch fullHD display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor. The device also features a 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS camera on the back, and sports a physical home button below the display, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner as well.
