It was just yesterday that Samsung announced the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones live during the company’s latest keynote held in Barcelona, Spain at the annual Mobile World Congress. Today, the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer also uploaded the entire “Unpacked” event on YouTube so that those who missed it or want to get hyped a little more can watch it at their own convenience; all 93 minutes and 3 seconds of it.
You can find the entire video at the bottom of this article, and as for those impatient ones, it can be summed up as follows: the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be somewhat more rounded than their predecessors and will once again feature Super AMOLED displays (2,560 x 1,960 pixels) and a microUSB port. The microSD card slot makes a return in this year’s models which will support up to 200GB of additional memory. The phones will be resistant to dust and water, feature a so-called “always-on” screen technology similar to the recently announced LG G5, and have a wider aperture on both the 12-megapixel rear and the 5-megapixel front cameras which at f/1.7 will supposedly significantly improve their autofocus capabilities, namely in terms of speed. Both will be available in 32 and 64 GB versions and feature 4 GB of RAM, currently unspecified octa-core processors, with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon or Exynos 8890 depending on the market. The main differences between the two pertain to battery capacity, as Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will feature 3,000 mAh and 3,600 mAh units, respectively. Other than that, while the Galaxy S7 will boast a standard flat 5.1-inch display packing 576 points-per-inch, the curved Galaxy S7 Edge display will have 534 ppi.
The pre-orders for the latest and greatest Samsung smartphones will begin tomorrow, February 23rd, and as AT&T already confirmed, you’ll be able to get them on a contract for as little as $23.17 and $26.50 per month. Those who place their orders by March 18th will also be rewarded with a free Samsung Gear virtual reality headset and half a dozen supported games.
