Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge announcements are right around the corner. Samsung has already confirmed that they’ll hold a press conference on February 21st in Barcelona, as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC). We’ve seen tons of leaks thus far, including quite a few benchmark listings, and some alleged official render leaks. Now, a new leak has surfaced, and this time around we’ll talk about the Galaxy S7’s camera hump, read on.
A rather well-known tipster, @OnLeaks, has decided to respond to a question on Twitter, and leak out some Galaxy S7 camera hump info. According to him, the Galaxy S7’s camera hump will be 0.8mm thick, which is very thin actually, but it’s still protruding. In comparison, the Galaxy S6’s camera hump was 1.7mm thick. This essentially means, that the Galaxy S7’s camera will protrude half as much (approximately) as the one on the Galaxy S6, which is great to hear. Speaking of the camera, the Galaxy S7 is rumored to sport a 12.2-megapixel BRITECELL sensor on the inside, a sensor which should be significantly smaller than the 16-megapixel one used in the Galaxy S6. This might actually explain how did Samsung manage to achieve this, presuming that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6 are similarly thick.
As far as the general guild goes, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will resemble Samsung’s flagships from last year, and especially the Galaxy Note 5. These are only rumors at this point, so take this info with a grain of salt, as usual. The devices will be made out of metal and glass, and it will be interesting to see what will Samsung do with the software this time around. The new chief of Samsung Mobile seemed really eager to improve software on the Galaxy line of handsets, and it is possible we’ll see significant changes in TouchWiz. As far as rest of the specs go, the Galaxy S7 will probably feature a 5.2-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and will be powered by either the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 SoC, depending on where you live. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will also come pre-installed here, and on top of it you’ll get the aforementioned TouchWiz UI.
