Samsung’s big Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress 2016 has given us the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, two phones pushing the edge of technology even further than last year’s Galaxy phones did. While this is an evolutionary release in many ways, including in the looks department, Samsung is pushing water resistance again, microSD card support and two different sized devices as well. With all these new features you’d better be sure people will be lining up to get their hands on their very own units, and customers who find themselves looking to move to Sprint or stick with the embattled US carrier might be quite happy with these recent announcements.
Over the last year Sprint has been running a program called iPhone Forever, designed to give customers an annual upgrade to Apple’s latest devices each and every time one debuts. Non-Apple enthusiasts such as ourselves have been wondering when in the world Sprint is going to get around to allowing other companies to jump on that bandwagon, as it created an artificial advantage for Apple to say the least. Thankfully that wait is over, and while it’s only Samsung who’s now been added to that list it’s at least an additional choice for customers to have when signing up for their next upgrade. How the program works leasing a phone from Sprint, where you’ll pay monthly payments for 12 months to keep the latest Samsung phone.
After making the 12th payment customers can upgrade to the latest Galaxy phone, which is right about the same timeframe that Samsung releases a new device in its Galaxy S family. Sprint has been running tons of promotions lately in order to woo over customers to its network, citing plenty of service and availability upgrades throughout the nation. This program runs at the cost of $25.99 per month for the Galaxy S7 and $30.50 per month for the Galaxy S7 Edge. That’s only $311.88 per year for the S7 and $366 for the S7 Edge for people who normally upgrade annually anyway, which means upgrade fanatics are likely going to be better off going with these programs over just buying the phone outright.
