We have been hearing rumors about the upcoming flagship Vivo XPlay 5 for a while now, and new details about the device surface every once in a while. If you think 4 GB of RAM is a lot, you should know that the XPlay 5 will have a whopping 6 GB of RAM, and will probably be the first smartphone to feature this monstrous amount of RAM. There’s a lot to expect from this handset and a recent leak allegedly shows benchmarking results for the Vivo phone. The information was surfaced by technology website Gizmochina and it came from a post on Weibo, China’s micro-blogging website.
A screenshot shows a whopping 162,610 points on AnTuTu, and if that is the XPlay 5 indeed, it is the highest score on the benchmarking platform. For the sake of comparison, the LG G5, which beats the Galaxy S7 on AnTuTu, scored 133,054, while Samsung’s new flagship scored 116,668. This is almost 3 times what the very powerful Galaxy Note 5 scored. The Vivo XPlay 5 is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s new SoC, the Snapdragon 820, which is the same inside the G5. That said, and again, if these test results are from the real deal, it seems that these extra 2 GB of RAM really make a big difference.
As for the rest of the phone, there’s plenty to expect from it. The screen is said to have 6 inches with 2K resolution, which should help with battery life. Samsung started the trend of curved edges and rumors have it that Vivo will do the same, but in a different way. The device is expected to have curved edges at the top and bottom, instead of the sides. This design will be at least interesting and it all depends on how the company will use this extra functionality. The battery inside to juice up this huge handset will have 4300 mAh, but the real usage time will depend on how well the company tweaks the software to deal with all that processing power. For photography lovers, there will be a 16-megapixel camera in the rear and an 8-megapixel in the front. Additionally, it is said the handset will also feature solar charging capabilities. The design is a mystery, but there’s a chance the body will be made out of metal. The company will announce the device on March 1 so we are a week away from it, that’s when all our questions will be answered. That said, if you are curious about the upcoming Vivo XPlay 5, stay tuned for more news.
