LG, Samsung, Huawei, Acer, Lenovo… and a number of other tech companies have already unveiled their products at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. LG and Samsung were especially interesting considering that both of these companies have showcased their new flagship devices. Well, as some of you might know, Xiaomi will also unveil their flagship handset at MWC this year, the Xiaomi Mi 5. The company has confirmed this a while back, and the launch will occur both in Beijing and in Barcelona. It is also worth mentioning that this will be the first time for Xiaomi to make an appearance at MWC.
That being said, we’ve been seeing tons of leaked content recently, some of which suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5 might become available the same day it gets launched. Well, a rather piece of info surfaced in China, suggesting that the device might actually become available in China tomorrow. According to an advertisement posted in Beijing Times, it seems like Xiaomi partnered up with Suning when it comes to the Mi 5. The advertisement actually suggests that the device will become available on Sunning tomorrow, the same day this handset launches, and they even listed the exact time of the press conference. Previous rumors suggested that Xiaomi is preparing large amounts of Mi 5 to be available in time for the launch event, so it looks like we’re in for a treat tomorrow.
According to tons of rumors, leaks, benchmark listings and even some official confirmations, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and more than one internal storage variant. The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel rear-facing shooter has been mentioned as well, and the phone will probably ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. On top of Google’s OS, you’ll be able to find Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 7 OS. It seems like the Mi 5 will sport a physical home button below the display as well, which is a first for Xiaomi. The fingerprint scanner will also be available here, this sensor will be built into the home key.
